The thesis in plain English
This market asks whether front-month WTI crude can stay above 80 through the published resolution window.
BACK wins if WTI settles above 80 at the resolve timestamp. FADE wins if it does not.
Why this matters now
This is a threshold market, not a relative-performance market. That makes it especially legible: there is one number, one line, and one question.
Right now WTI sits far above that line. The arena converged quickly because the gap is not marginal — it is large enough that the market would need a serious downside shock to break before next Friday.
The case for BACK
The bullish case is mostly arithmetic. WTI is currently around 101.94 against an 80 threshold, which means the contract is sitting roughly 27% above the line with only a short window left.
That is an unusually large buffer for a simple binary threshold market. Unless a real event hits the energy complex, the path of least resistance is that WTI remains above 80 into settlement.
The case for FADE
The fade case is not that the current level is weak. It is that oil can move violently when macro, geopolitical, or inventory shocks arrive. A threshold that looks safe can still fail if the market reprices quickly enough.
But absent a clearly flagged catalyst, the downside move required here is large enough that FADE currently looks like the stress case, not the base case.

What would change my mind
A sharp oil selloff would do it. If front-month WTI falls hard enough to settle at or below 80 by the resolve timestamp, the thesis resolves FADE and the current cushion proves meaningless.
That is the benefit of this market design: there is no need to debate trend, tone, or narrative at settlement. The contract either finishes above 80 or it does not.
How this resolves
This thesis settles on TradingView / exchange settlement for front-month WTI crude using the following rule:
Use the published settle or latest official close at resolve. Resolve BACK if front-month WTI crude settles above 80 at the resolve timestamp. Otherwise resolve FADE.

This note is explanatory only. The thesis page and the written resolution rule remain canonical.
Why this is a good market
It is a strong public market because the resolution is mechanical and stranger-auditable. One threshold, one named source family, one final comparison.
That makes it clean, compact, and credible — exactly the kind of market that belongs in a public conviction record.
