The thesis in plain English
If the market is still rewarding the security narrative over higher-beta crypto exposure, Bitcoin should keep outperforming Ether without giving back its own price support through the resolution window.
In plain numbers: the ETH/BTC ratio has to fall by at least 5% while BTC itself holds within 2% of its open. Anything looser resolves FADE or VOID.
Why this matters now
The window is short — opens Apr 20, 2026, closes Apr 27, 2026, resolves May 4, 2026. About two weeks to put a number on whether the security-rotation flow is still allocating to BTC over higher-beta majors, or whether ETH quietly takes back relative ground.
The market does not ask for a story. It asks for two daily closes from a public feed.
The case for BACK
BACK requires two thresholds to clear together on the May 4 close: R1 ≤ 0.95 × R0 (Ether loses at least 5% of its relative weight versus BTC) AND B1 ≥ 0.98 × B0 (BTC itself gives back no more than 2%). The dual threshold is the point — it filters out the case where BTC "wins" only because the whole complex sold off harder.
The case for FADE
FADE is the simpler exit: R1 ≥ 1.02 × R0. A 2% gain in ETH/BTC means Ether reasserted relative strength and the security-rotation bid is no longer pricing through. One close, one comparison, no overlay.
Key evidence
- Settlement source: Yahoo Finance historical data for BTC-USD with ETH-USD cross-check
- Source URL: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BTC-USD/history/
- Cross-check URL: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/ETH-USD/history/
- Claim type: comparative
- Category: tokenomics
- Time horizon: short
- Evidence type: market data
- Window: opens 2026-04-20, closes 2026-04-27, resolves 2026-05-04
- Triggers: R = E/B; BACK at R1 ≤ 0.95 × R0 with B1 ≥ 0.98 × B0; FADE at R1 ≥ 1.02 × R0
The thresholds and the feed are fixed in advance. Anyone pulling the same two daily closes should reach the same resolution.
What would change my mind
One number flips this market: R1 ≥ 1.02 × R0. If ETH/BTC reasserts by even 2% into the May 4 close, the relative-strength leg of the thesis is gone, and BACK should not be rescued by residual narrative.
The whole point of a numeric falsifier is that it does its work without anyone arguing about it.
How this resolves
This thesis settles on Yahoo Finance historical data for BTC-USD with ETH-USD cross-check using the following rule:
Use Yahoo Finance daily close data for BTC-USD as the primary source and Yahoo Finance daily close data for ETH-USD at https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/ETH-USD/history/ as the required cross-check. Define B0 as the BTC-USD daily close and E0 as the ETH-USD daily close on opensAt, and define R0 = E0 / B0. Define B1 and E1 the same way on resolvesAt, and define R1 = E1 / B1. Resolve BACK if R1 is at or below 0.95 × R0 and B1 is at or above 0.98 × B0, showing that Bitcoin kept relative leadership while holding its own price support. Resolve FADE if R1 is at or above 1.02 × R0, showing that Ether regained relative strength instead. Resolve VOID for all other outcomes or if either source is unavailable.

This note is explanatory only. The thesis page and the written resolution rule remain canonical.
Why this is a good market
The settlement is mechanical: three thresholds (0.95, 0.98, 1.02) applied to two daily closes from one named feed. No tone analysis, no flow estimation, no judgment calls — just a relative-strength ratio measured the same way on the same two dates.
That is what makes it a tokenomics market: priced conviction about observable closes, not commentary about narrative strength.
